RETAILER RECOMMENDATIONS | DISPLAY KIT THAT CAN INCREASE SALES FOR INDEPENDENT CONVENIENCE STORES

We wanted to find out more about where independent retailers could get display equipment that could genuinely grow their sales, so turned to Mark Boston, Sales Director from HL Display to find out which bits of kit really are making a difference.

FANCY ADDING INCREASED FRESH FRUIT & VEG SALES + ZERO WASTE TO YOUR BOTTOM LINE?

Luke Coathup from The Green Grocers, Norwich has been using an eye-catching display for all his fresh fruit & veg. The semi circles of produce jump out at you in a fan like fashion. He said “The new units create better air circulation, which means we get zero waste, which is a massive plus for us.”

“It has created a real ‘wow’ factor, which is another element of being in the theatre of retail. As soon as the customer walks in front of it, all the colours of the produce speaks for itself and we have seen an increase in sales of 30%+ since we installed the unit.”

“It enables locals to think about their shopping habits, reducing their packaging. Everything here goes in to a bag or a box which they can reuse.”

GRAVITY BINS THE SECRET TO IMPRESS MULTIPLE AGE GROUPS?

For David Knight, their gravity feeders were introduced as part of their wider sustainability strategy for the store. “The customer reaction has been amazing. We were quite surprised about how successful sales have been across all demographics. School children using it in the mornings and at 3 o’clock. Elderly like to use it as they like to consume less. Our middle range customers are using it for more environmental reasons. It has been a massive hit. The team love it as well as it is a massive selling point for the store.”

“The back of store is an area that traditionally suffers in convenience retail so we wanted something to ‘draw the eye’. Once you walk passed the first aisle you enter a really sexy area. The packaging and the bins really sell themselves” “Sales of the loose products have been phenomenal. We had to a second order of stock within the first week. We’ve seen a decline in the prepackaged versions of the items but that was of course the aim”.

This week, Aldi’s new gravity units hit the headlines. Good example of how to create choice for even a small number of SKU’s.
