Facemasks in store has a place in protecting us all, but has some consequences that not everyone is aware of.
63% of shoppers have said they are less likely to want to go shopping when they have to wear a mask. There has been a slow down in the last few weeks perhaps thats why.
Last week we had a slightly tongue in cheek article about how teenagers are using them to help getting served with age restricted products. But we are hearing that a particularly unwanted side effect is that shop lifting has increased. A mask creates a certain anonimity that seems to have increased this.
I am not sure there is any partcular advice on this except be vigilant and as ever speak to the customers where you can, shoplifters are less likely to steal when they have been spoken to, even a nice hello helps.
