CORNISH RETAILER OPENS THIRD STORE

A Cornish independent retailer has launched his third Nisa store just in time to make the most of the tourist trade as the season kicks off this Easter.

Gary Batten, who operates two Nisa Local fascia stores in the St Austell area, opened store number three at the weekend. The new venture is closer to the coast than his other shops and promises to be a fantastic resource for holiday makers.

Located in the coastal village of Pentewan, the former forecourt store is a modest 1,000 sq.ft. and offers an extensive range combining locally sourced products alongside a strong Co-op own label presence.

With four holiday sites within walking distance the footfall is expected to be high in season while the local community will be a steady source of trade year-round.

Gary said: “This new store is a totally different ball game for me with the seasonal business, but I am really looking forward to it.

“We have a fantastic range of local products with excellent baked goods, eggs, jams, which we think will sell well to the community as well as the holiday trade.

“And we’ll also be having a full food and drinks to go offer including serve over ice cream and Co-op Meal Deals which we expect to land well with holidaymakers and day trippers.”

With no prior data to go on for ranging the store, Gary has been supported by Nisa’s team who have a wealth of experience in supplying holiday site stores
