KETCH-UP WITH THE TESCO/HEINZ CRISIS

In a soup-rising move, a pricing dispute between Kraft Heinz and Tesco has seen Heinz products removed from shelves, leading to an opportunity for retailers.

Tesco shelves have been seen with large gaps as Kraft Heinz have now stopped supply to the supermarket giant. Whilst this is only the case in Tesco, retailers may see an increase in sales or shopper missions for the product, in areas with little to no competitor supermarkets.

Heinz are the leading brand of ketchup, sauces, baked beans and soups in the UK, amongst many other products, so this is understandably making waves in the retail sector. We have seen things like this happen before, such as with Marmite and Unilever products, however, Heinz seems to be having a bigger impact.

The issue is expected to be solved eventually, so this shouldn’t last more than a few weeks, however it will take some time for Tesco’s stock to ketch-up with demand, so make the most of it.

A supermarket as big as Tesco needs to stock a brand as big as Heinz, and vice versa. But while the opportunity is there, it’s worth capitalising on!
